UPDATE ON HAITIAN RELIEF EFFORTSThe International Art Therapy Organization and Art Therapy Alliance join with other international organizations to support relief efforts for those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.Message sent to IATO Members on January 13th, 2010: On Tuesday, Jan. 12, a powerful earthquake caused massive damage in Haiti, in particular the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The Red Cross estimates that 3 million people have been affected by the earthquake, and Haitian President René Préval estimates that thousands have died. In an already impoverished nation, the 7.0-magnitude earthquake is expected to lead to a severe health crisis. INTERNATIONAL ART THERAPISTS DISASTER RELIEF DATABASEIn response to requests from international agencies in the US and around the world, IATO has been called upon to create a database of professionals to provide art therapy and psychosocial services as part of disaster relief. If you would like to become part of this database, please send an email with information about yourself and your curriculum vitae or resume to info@theiato.org. We are currently looking for French-speaking professionals with experience in Africa or disaster relief in other parts of the world.
